The Goldster Magazine Show with Rosie Stancer

with Tony Loughran

10 September 2024

Tony Loughran’s official title is global risk specialist. More simply put, he’s in the business of saving lives, and has 30 years of experience in not just protecting others but also keeping himself alive in some highly volatile environments.

Born in Liverpool, Tony’s childhood was tough but one which inured him sufficiently to pass selection for the Royal Marines where he flourished as a commando medic.  His inbuilt drive to help his team-mates shone through and forged a natural pathway into a profession of safety and security expert, a role that played to all his strengths in protecting people in fast-moving and highly dangerous situations.

Working for the BBC in this capacity, Tony trained, equipped and protected war correspondents and journalists risking their own lives to bring world news into our homes. Behind the scenes, he has been responsible for saving many of the lives of those familiar faces we see on our screens, hear on the radio or whose news stories we read. This marked the start of his company ZeroRisk Internationalfrom his new home in Australia, with his business expanding to include to protection of war aid workers, business people and hapless citizens caught up in the sudden onset of war or terrorist attacks the world over. One day, that might be you.

Having had a few close calls in the world of exploration in extreme environments, I will be delving into his mindset to find out what equips this ex-marine commander to survive, sometimes against the odds, illustrated with some gripping stories.

Would you entrust your life with Tony? A chance to judge for yourself, and learn tips that could be life-saving in what promises to be an enthralling conversation, laced with Marine humour at the special time of 11am on Tuesday 10th September.
